Every vision starts with a moment of clarity—this is how Insight Horizon Counseling came to life

ABOUT US

I’ve always been a coach at heart. My journey began on the pool decks of the YMCA, where I managed nearly 200 swimmers and often lost my voice cheering them on. Encouraging people to push past limits, celebrate victories, and believe in themselves has always been part of who I am. Over time, that passion for coaching naturally evolved into the field of counseling—where I found new ways to help individuals grow, both inside and outside the pool. Insight Horizon Counseling LLC. was created to serve as a space where both providers and clients can thrive. For providers, my goal was to build an organization grounded in genuine, patient-centered care. For clients, I wanted to create a place where accessing compassionate, skilled providers feels easy, supportive, and empowering.

Today, I specialize in supporting first responders, active-duty service members and veterans, individuals navigating substance use and recovery, and healthcare professionals. At the same time, my practice is open to anyone seeking support with life stress, emotional challenges, or finding healthier ways to cope. No matter your background, my goal is to create a space where you feel supported, challenged, and empowered to grow. My therapeutic style is authentic, direct, and—when appropriate—even fun. Therapy doesn’t always have to feel heavy; it can also be a space for laughter, honesty, and meaningful breakthroughs. I’ll challenge you, encourage you, and walk alongside you as you work toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.

In addition to clinical work, I provide clinical supervision for mental health professionals working toward independent licensure. My supervision style mirrors my therapeutic approach—collaborative, reflective, and rooted in growth. I aim to help developing clinicians deepen their clinical insight, strengthen their documentation and case formulation skills, and build confidence in their professional identity.

I also offer healthcare consulting services for programs seeking guidance on compliance, operations, and clinical excellence. With over 15 years of leadership experience in both outpatient and inpatient behavioral health settings, I have successfully guided organizations through BSAS, Joint Commission, CARF, and DMH accreditation and audits. My consulting focuses on creating systems that are not only compliant, but also clinically meaningful—supporting both staff and the individuals they serve.

Welcome to Insight Horizon Counseling! We are glad you’re here. My name is Jeff Spruance and I am honored to have the opportunity to work with you.

I have been counseling in various capacities for close to 5 years. I have worked in private practice settings, as well as substance use facilities. I specialize in marriage therapy, spiritual counseling, existential therapy, substance use counseling, and cognitive behavior therapy.

I received my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I attend a church in Plymouth and help run a 12-step program right down the street in downtown Plymouth. I love my job because I’m able to help aid folks as they find peace, freedom, and joy by working through the various challenges, trials, and pain that life can present.

I am grateful to be a husband to my wonderful wife and a father to my two sons. I am an avid soccer fan and watch every Manchester City game possible. My favorite author is C.S. Lewis and the greatest movies are the Lord of the Rings. I enjoy studying philosophy and theology, and I have recently taken up violin lessons.

We are so happy you found your way to our door and we promise to support you as best as we can while you seek healing and change through therapy.

Life stress has a way of piling up, and sometimes it helps to have someone alongside you while you sort through it. In therapy, we work together to understand what’s getting in the way, build skills that fit your life, and move toward something that feels more steady and manageable. There’s room for honest conversation, meaningful progress, and—when it fits—a bit of humor along the way.

I work with individuals navigating substance use concerns, anxiety, depression, mood changes, trauma, relationship stress, and major life transitions. My approach is collaborative and flexible, drawing from Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Reality Therapy. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model, our work is shaped by your goals, values, and what feels most helpful for you.

The work we do together balances support with challenge, so you can feel understood while still being encouraged to grow. My role is to help you build insight, strengthen coping skills, and move toward a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and aligned with what matters most to you.

I look forward to working with you.
